Come discover that birth is beautiful, that women are capable, and that every woman can learn how to lovingly support another woman.
Saturday, October 24 · 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM · Kansas City area · $57
Birth is powerful, challenging. and unpredictable. And birth can also be beautiful.
So many of us grew up hearing that birth is something to fear. That it happens to women. That it is something to survive. We want to tell you something different.
God designed a woman's body with astonishing wisdom. Birth is not something that simply happens to her. It is something she does, and she was never meant to do it alone. For as long as women have given birth, other women have gathered close to help them. Scripture even remembers two of them by name, the Hebrew midwives Shiphrah and Puah, who feared God and protected life (Exodus 1:15-21).
What You'll Discover
Over six sessions woven with Scripture, story, and hands-on practice, you'll walk through the whole beautiful journey.
Wonderfully Made. How a woman's body is designed for pregnancy and birth, and why that design is worth trusting.
The Baby's Journey. From a tiny cell to a baby ready to be born, plus the common discomforts of pregnancy and the warning signs every woman should know.
The Miracle of Birth. What really happens in labor, from the first early signs through transition and the birth of the placenta.
The Circle of Care. Who's who on a birth team, what happens at prenatal visits, how to make wise decisions, and how to think through birth preferences.
The Art of the Doula. The ancient and modern history of women serving women in birth, and the gentle skills of comfort and presence.
Caring for the Postpartum Mom. What the weeks after birth are really like, and how to care for a new mom's body, heart, and home.
Along the way you'll practice real comfort measures in our hands-on lab, hear a mother share her birth story, and take part in activities that make it all come alive.
“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made”
